Communication Plans

My goal is to keep lines of communication open to you, as parents, so that we can form a partnership for the success of our students. Three ways that I will communicate with you throughout the year are daily take-home folders, meetings, and phone calls.

Every day I will send home a daily take-home folder with each student. This will be a way that I will keep parents up to date on student progress and what is happening in the classroom on a day to day basis. The folder will include daily conduct reports, information and papers from the school, paperwork that may need to be signed and returned, homework, graded work, and any notes that concern the student including positive notes of encouragement and praise.

I will also meet with you face-to-face through scheduled meetings such as Meet-the-Teacher, Parent/Teacher Conferences, and IEP meetings. Before the student’s first day of class, you will be invited to a “Meet the Teacher” night. On this night we will have the chance to meet face-to-face. I will introduce myself, let you and your children explore the classroom, and I will answer questions regarding my plans for the classroom, my experience, my style of teaching, or any other concerns you may have. At parent/teacher conferences and IEP meetings, I will have detailed records available to you regarding student progress, academic achievement such as grades and report cards, information about anything I have noticed regarding the student’s strengths, social development, or learning style, and any goals that I have set for the student. I am always open to suggestions that you may have for me.

Periodically, I will take the time to personally call you and inform you of your student’s positive behavior, interactions, and successes in the classroom and at school. And again, please feel free to email me or leave me a message if you have any questions or concerns throughout the day.
